Móðir mín í kví, kví

Móðir mín í kví, kví

This is an Icelantic folk song from a legend of a young girl who was raped, and bore child. She couldn’t face keeping the child so she too it out to the mountains to die in the frost.

Later she is invited to a ball but she worries she has nothing to wear, her baby’s ghost appears to her singing to her, offering her the scarf she had left the child to die in.

This was my favorite story when I was a kid, and my favorite song.
